Kazakhstan-Austria trade reached $ 4bln in 2011

VIENNA. October 22. KAZINFORM Austria is the biggest trade and investment partner of Kazakhstan in Europe. Trade turnover between the two countries reached USD 4 billion in 2011, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev told a briefing in the Vienna Hofburg palace after the negotiations with his Austrian counterpart Heinz Fischer.

The Kazakh leader thanked Heinz Fischer for the invitation. "This visit will be an important milestone for our partnership," he noted.

Nazarbayev said that Kazakhstan is also a major partner of Austria in the former Soviet space, because 37% of the oil consumed here comes from our country.

"Today, 100 joint ventures operate in Kazakhstan. Last year trade turnover reached USD 4 billion, and thus increased by 50%. For the first half of this year it grew by 56%," the Head of State added.
