Kazakhstan-Austria goods turnover rose 14.5 times in Q1, 2010 - Majilis Deputy M. Pshembayev

ASTANA. May 11. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ In January-May 2010 the commodity turnover between Kazakhstan and Austria rose by 14.5 times compared to the first quarter of 2009. Chairman of the Union of Kazakhstan Machine Builders, deputy of the Majilis of the Kazakh Parliament Meiram Pshembayev said at the Kazakh-Austrian Business Forum being held at the Radisson SAS Hotel in Astana at present.

"Kazakhstan ranks the third among the CIS partners of Austria, after Russia and Ukraine. The volume of goods turnover between two countries made USD 719 mln in January-March 2010", Pshembayev said.

According to him, export in the Q1 comprised USD 693 mln and import - USD 25 mln.

The business forum aims at presentation of Kazakhstan's forced industrialization program and discussion of the issues on bilateral trade-economic cooperation.

Heads of Austrian Machine Builders Union, representatives of leading Austrian companies specializing in engineering and metallurgy, state bodies and business community as well as Kazakh national companies are taking part in it.
