Kazakhstan attracts USD 4 bln of direct investments from Cyprus

Kazakh Foreign Minister Mirat Nurtleu met with Foreign Minister of Cyprus Constantinos Kombos to debate the most promising directions of bilateral cooperation, particularly, in spheres such as agriculture, tourism, transportation and logistics, Kazinform News Agency reports.

The Kazakh Minister said, for the past 20 years Kazakhstan attracted 4 billion US dollars (1.8 trillion tenge) of direct investments from Cyprus and invested 1.4 billion US dollars (630.7 billion tenge). 326 companies with the participation of Cypriot capital work in Kazakhstan as of today.

The business forum held last year in Almaty gave an impetus to B2B ties. He expressed hope that the business cooperation of Kazakhstan and Cyprus will embark on a higher level by developing new joint projects. He also expressed interest in exchanging business delegations and creating an intergovernmental commission.

The Minister called Cypriot companies to set up joint ventures with Kazakhstani businesses.
