Kazakhstan attracted over USD 120 bln of foreign direct investments in 19 years - President

ASTANA. May 20. KAZINFORM "Kazakhstan is serving as a bridgehead for many transnational companies wishing to penetrate the markets of our region. That is shown by the fact that 80 per cent of the direct investment funds entering Central Asia over the past 15 years were invested in Kazakhstan", Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev has said delivering a speech at the plenary session of the EBRD Annual Meeting in Astana today.

"In just 19 years our economy has attracted over USD 120 bln of foreign direct investments", the President said.

N. Nazarbayev pointed out that with the start-up of the Customs Union and the imminent creation of a Common Economic Space, the attractiveness of investing in Kazakhstan has been growing significantly.

"An investor who comes to us gains access to a huge market with a population of 170 mln and a total of about USD 2 trln", he highlighted.
