Kazakhstan attends Int'l Conference on Dialogue among Religions and Cultures in Asia in Teheran
The forum was held under the auspices of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA). The Iranian Center for Interreligious Dialogue organized the conference.
More than 40 delegates from 22 countries of Asia (India, Turkey, Japan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Kazakhstan and others) as well as observer countries (Australia and Russia) gathered in the capital of Iran. Parliamentarians, experts, public figures and religious leaders, who head Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, Hindu and Confucian communities, took part in debates. The participants discussed urgent problems of interaction of religions and civilizations in the globalization.
Kazakhstan was represented by Chief Researcher of the International Centre of Cultures and Religions Yesbossyn Smagulov. He told about initiatives of President Nursultan Nazarbayev in the sphere of interfaith dialog. The delegates were informed of the congresses of leaders of world and traditional religions in Astana. His speech was focused on Kazakhstan's policy on strengthening concord and tolerance between representatives of all confessions.
