Kazakhstan attaches great importance to effective development of OSCE humanitarian dimension - Igor Rogov

BRUSSELS. June 7. KAZINFORM /Dimash Syzdykov/ As the OSCE presiding country Kazakhstan attaches great importance to effective development of humanitarian dimension of the Organization. Chairman of the Kazakh Constitutional Council Igor Rogov said addressing the participants of the jubilee events dedicated to celebration of the Venice Commission's 20th anniversary.

In his speech Igor Rogov noted that observance and protection of fundamental rights and freedoms, democracy, combating intolerance and discrimination were an integral component of comprehensive security in the OSCE area.

On June 10, 2010 the OSCE Chairman-in-Office is expected to participate in a conference devoted to the 20th anniversary of the Copenhagen Document (a founding document of human dimension). The agenda of the event, held in Kazakhstan's institutional and financial co-sponsorship will include review of national implementation of the OSCE commitments observance of fundamental rights and freedoms.

On June 29-30 Astana will host the OSCE High-Level Conference on Tolerance and Non-Discrimination which confirms again the Organization's adherence to promotion of tolerance, intercultural and inter-civilization dialogue in the OSCE area. President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev will take part in it.

"Issues of humanitarian track, along with the problems of other dimensions of the OSCE will undoubtedly be in spotlight of the forthcoming informal meeting of the OSCE foreign ministers in Almaty on July 16-17 and the OSCE Summit in Astana at the end of the year", Igor Rogov noted.

The Chairman of the Kazakhstan Constitutional Council emphasized that the OSCE welcomed fruitful cooperation with the Venice Commission, which allows two institutions speaking with one voice on many important issues in in democratization of legislation.
