Kazakhstan approves Customs Union's expansion but is against any exceptions for new members
"I am for the expansion of the Union. We are an open organization. "Roadmaps" for the accession of Armenia and Kyrgyzstan have been drafted. The Eurasian Economic Commission's Council has approved them, although our proposals haven't been included. Today, we have already underscored that there should be no exceptions for any new members. Certainly, if they have any problems, we are ready to consider them, but later, if it is necessary. We must not permit accession to the Customs Union along with the preservation of special regimes. Memberships cannot be middle-of-the-road", - Nazarbayev said.
Kazakhstan President said that Armenia was better prepared for joining the CU, although its ongoing internal Nagorno-Karabakh conflict poses a question about the border of Customs Union for Armenia.
«I confirm Kazakhstan's absolute commitment to the building of a strong economic union, which will be at the same time flexible in addressing international market changes. This union can only be set up with account of interests of its every member", - the Kazakh leader added.
