Kazakhstan anticipates non-oil sector boost - Akhmetov
"Recently, we have summed up the interim results after three years of implementing the program. To date, the entire necessary legal framework has been formed and the necessary decisions have been adopted. In 2011 we already reached one of the goals set in the Program that is to increase the GDP by 2015 compared to 2008 in nominal terms by at least USD 46.7 billion and by 15 percent in real terms.
In 2011, the GDP increased by USD 76.7 billion, as compared to 2008. Real increase was 16.7 percent," said S.Akhmetov.
The Prime Minister said that the highest growth was in manufacturing - 18.6 percent. For the first time its growth outpaced the growth of mining industry. The non-oil exports increased significantly. USD 5.7 billion in foreign direct investment was attracted to the manufacturing industry in 2010, which is more than a third of all direct investment in the manufacturing sector since independence.
S.Akhmetov also said that the second stage of the state program of forced industrial-innovative development is under preparation.
