Kazakhstan and Tajikistan to launch new joint enterprises

Kazakhstan and Tajikistan strengthen economic cooperation expanding investment projects and creating joint enterprises, Kazinform News Agency reports.

Opening of a joint sunflower seeds processing plant in Kazakhstan to further export sunflower seed oil to Tajikistan is being negotiated, Foreign Minister of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin said following the talks with Deputy Prime Minister - Kazakh Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu in Astana.

He said trade remains one of the key directions for cooperation between the two states. Last year Astana, Pavlodar, Shymkent, Kokshetau and Kostanay cities hosted exhibitions of Tajikistan’s products. Besides, a joint fruits and vegetables logistics center is to be set up in Tajikistan.

The parties confirmed readiness to continue active investment cooperation and support Kazakhstani companies. Some 100 Kazakhstani companies operate in Tajikistan as of now.

As reported earlier, commodity turnover between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan reached 1.2 billion US dollars that is 7% more compared to the previous year.
