Kazakhstan and Switzerland discussed ratification of abolition of the death penalty protocol

The sides discussed participation of the national human rights institution in implementation of recommendations given to Kazakhstan under the Universal Periodic Review in 2010, the ratification of the second optional protocol of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, aimed at aboliting of the death penalty.

P. Dvoracek was acquainted with the activity of the Office of Ombudsman in the field of protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens, consideration of complaints and appeals, monitoring of institutional establishments and the practice of the interrelation between the state authorities and civilian sector, improvement of the national legislation and interaction with the international human rights organizations on these issues.
