Kazakhstan and South Korea reaffirm stronger industrial, energy cooperation
First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Nurlybek Nalibayev met on Tuesday with South Korea's Minister of Trade, Industry, and Resources Kim Jung-kwan, Qazinform News Agency reports.
During the talks, the sides discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral trade, economic, and investment cooperation, focusing particularly on industry and energy.

Nalibayev highlighted the steady positive momentum of bilateral relations and emphasized Kazakhstan's interest in further expanding the partnership with South Korea.
Kim Jung-kwan expressed readiness to deepen ties and implement joint projects aimed at developing industrial cooperation, attracting investment, and advancing nuclear energy collaboration.

"The sides underscored the importance of the Kazakhstan–South Korea Joint Commission on Trade, Economic, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, which held its meeting on June 8, 2026, in Astana. Following the meeting, both sides confirmed their mutual readiness to further strengthen their expanded strategic partnership and implement joint initiatives," the government noted.
As Qazinform New Agency reported, on June 8, Kazakhstan and South Korea held talks in Astana on expanding nuclear energy cooperation, including the introduction of small modular reactors (SMRs), human resource training, and scientific and technical collaboration.
