It has been announced by Kazakh Senate Speaker Kairat Mami in Moscow today during a meeting with Chairman of the Federation Council of Russia Valentina Matviyenko.

K. Mami noted that the bilateral meetings at the inter-parliamentary level between Kazakhstan and Russia have become of regular character. "Cooperation between our countries is maintained on the basis of friendship, good neighborliness and strategic partnership," he said.

The Kazakh Senate Speaker stressed that 'for Kazakhstan direct cooperation with the Russian Parliament is a priority.' The sides fulfill the basic provisions of the agreement on cooperation between the upper chambers of both Kazakh and Russian parliaments in good faith.

"There is a need to expand parliamentary ties not only at the central level but also at the level of local representative organs. These ties would fasten the efforts attempted by the leaders of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation. I think this issue can be included into the agenda of the upcoming forum on cross-border cooperation in Yekaterinburg in September," K. Mami stated.

Mr. Mami also underlined that 'Kazakhstan reiterates its commitment to the development of integration processes in the post-Soviet space.'
