Kazakhstan and Norway intend to expand business partnership

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - 11-15 May 2015 the Norwegian delegation headed by the Managing Director of the Rogaland Export Promotion Agency, Chairman of the Board of the Norwegian Drilling Academy «Nortrain» Are Selstad visited the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During the visit, the Norwegian representatives held meetings with the officials and representatives of the business circles of Kazakhstan. The visit was aimed at discussing the issues of expansion of trade between Kazakhstan and Norway, the development of business contacts between two countries, expert support in the implementation of joint energy and business projects, according to MFA.

At the meeting with the Vice Minister of Agriculture GulmiraIsayeva the issue of attracting expert support in the organization of aquaculture and fish farming in Kazakhstan was discussed. The Norwegian side was informed that the national programme for the development of fisheries was developed in the framework of implementation of the Concept on transition of Kazakhstan to «green economy». The issues of establishing ties with the Norwegian companies in order to create new industries in the country for the breeding and cultivation of marine fish on an industrial scalewere discussed in the meetings with the representatives of business circles of Kazakhstan.

An important item on the programme of the Norwegian representatives was the training of the engineering staff of Kazakhstan and vocational training that was discussed during talks with the CEO of the «Kasipkor» Holding national company EldanaSadvakasova, Director of «Samruk-Kazyna» Corporate University Gary Haysand the administrative and academic staff of Kazakh-British Technical University.

Given Kazakhstan's plans to increase oil production volumes and the level of innovative development in this area in Norway, several topics were discussed at the meetings with First Deputy Minister of Energy UzakbaiKarabalin and First Deputy Chairman of the Board of National Company KazMunaiGas JSCChristopher Simon Hopkinson, includingthe prospects of cooperation on implementation of joint project on the development of methods of enhanced improved oil recovery, the development of mutually beneficial cooperation in the use of new technologies and innovative approaches in the energy sector.

At the meetings with the Norwegian representativeswas noted that Kazakhstan and Norway are united by internal developmental goals: sustainable energy, clean technology and innovation, management of natural resources. These areas are the priorities in the «Kazakhstan-2050» Strategy» and the Concept of transition of Kazakhstan to «green economy».
