Kazakhstan and Italy interested in regional cooperation development
On May 15, the Kazakh diplomat held talks with Mayor of Bari Michele Emiliano and with Prefect of the city Antonio Nunziante. A.Yelemessov informed them of the social and economic perspectives of Kazakhstan and the current achievements of our country in the international sphere. Special attention during the meeting with the Mayor of Bari was paid to the development of interreligious and intercultural dialogue and experience of Kazakhstan in this field. This topic is of particular importance to the administrative institutions and the citizens of Bari, since the city of Bari is considered to be a vivid example of peaceful coexistence of two religions - Catholic and Christian - in Italy. Bari is famous for its Basilica of Saint Nicholas which is an important pilgrimage destination both for the Catholics and Orthodox Christians, the Kazakh MFA's press service says.
On the same day, the Head of Kazakhstan's diplomatic mission held meetings with the managers of leading companies, representing the main economic sectors of Puglia. During his speech in the framework of a business forum on investment and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Italy Yelemessov briefed the business community of the region on the current situation and prospects of development of Kazakhstan's economy, national innovative potential and the preferences created in Kazakhstan for foreign business actors and investors. He also informed the participants of the business forum about the VII Astana Economic Forum (AEF) and the II World Anti-Crisis Conference, briefly outlined the main topics and activities, which will be discussed and held in Astana during the AEF.
The participants of the forum also paid much attention to the long-term plans of Kazakhstan outlined in "Kazakhstan -2050 Strategy" and in the last President's Message to the People of the country "Kazakhstan's way - 2050: the overarching goal, common interests, common future".
During the event the Kazakh Embassy organized a photo exhibition dedicated to the Republic of Kazakhstan, presented books about Kazakhstan, published in Italian language, distributed informational materials about the investment climate in the country.
On May 16, in Brindisi the Embassy organized and held a roundtable discussion "Kazakhstan: a new source of economic development", aimed to attract Italian companies to the implementation of the State Program of Advanced Industrial - Innovation Development of Kazakhstan. Following the event, the entrepreneurs of Brindisi showed their interest in expanding cooperation with Kazakh partners and opening joint ventures in different regions of Kazakhstan.
