Kazakhstan and Hungary discuss expansion of inter-parliamentary cooperation

ASTANA. October 23. KAZINFORM Majilis Speaker Nurlan Nigmatulin met with Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary László Kövér in Astana on Wednesday, the press service of the lower chamber of the Kazakh Parliament reports.

During the meeting the sides discussed a wide array of issues regarding the Kazakh-Hungarian cooperation. Mr. Nigmatulin noted that Hungary is an important political and economic partner of Kazakhstan in Central and Eastern Europe. The sales turnover between the two countries exceed $258 million in 2012. Currently, there are 49 Kazakhstani-Hungarian joint ventures in Kazakhstan.

As for the foreign policy, the interlocutors agreed Kazakhstan and Hungary share common stance on the strengthening of the regional security and stability.

The Kazakh MP stressed that thanks to ambitious initiatives of President Nursultan Nazarbayev, Kazakhstan has earned a remarkable standing as the international dialogue platform where the most pressing issues of the international agenda are discussed.

Kövér, in his turn, lauded the high level of the Kazakh-Hungarian relations and Kazakhstan's success achieved under the leadership of Nursultan Nazarbayev.

Utmost attention was paid to the inter-parliamentary cooperation. The sides expressed confidence that Kazakhstani and Hungarian MPs enjoy constructive and ever-expanding dialogue.

The Majilis Speaker emphasized the importance of further development of bilateral and inter-parliamentary ties, especially in the context of implementation of the "Kazakhstan-2050" Development Strategy, the main course of political development and socioeconomic modernization of the country.

It was also noted that Kazakhstan and Hungary have great potential for further successful interaction, especially at the inter-parliamentary level.
