Kazakhstan and China debated Turgay TPP construction project

BOAO. KAZINFORM Chinese companies expressed interest in the construction of the Turgay thermal power plant with a capacity of 2,000 MW in the Kostanay region.
Head of Samruk Kazyna State Holding Umirzak Shukeyev met with the authorities of China's Datan Corporation and CMEC on the sidelines of the BOAO Asian Forum 2014 to debate the Turgay TPP construction project issues. According to him, the TPP construction is the backbone project of this region. Advanced technologies and new approaches, especially, green solutions, will be implemented there. The capacity of complex will reach 10 mln tons of coal per year. Initial cost of the project totals USD 4 bln. The Turgay coal basin situated in the Kostanay region is one of the largest in Kazakhstan. Its coal resources amount to 50 bln tons.
