Kazakhstan and Austria maintain strong relations for more than 30 years
Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of Austria Beate Meinl-Reisinger arrived in Astana for an official visit, Qazinform News Agency reports.
In Astana, she met with Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev.
The sides discussed the progress of bilateral cooperation, noting that Kazakhstan and Austria have maintained strong relations for more than 30 years.

Minister Kosherbayev emphasized that the visit of the Federal Minister for European and International Affairs is an important step in strengthening long-term partnership, giving new momentum to political dialogue and cooperation with Vienna and international organizations.
He added that Kazakhstan views Austria as a key European partner and intends to further develop cooperation both bilaterally and multilaterally.
Beate Meinl-Reisinger highlighted that her visit continues earlier agreements and reflects Austria’s high regard for relations with Kazakhstan. She pointed to the visa-free regime for diplomatic passport holders and the arrival of an Austrian business delegation as evidence of growing interest in investment and infrastructure projects, including the Middle Corridor.
Energy security was also discussed, with Austria valuing Kazakhstan’s role in energy supplies.
Earlier, Kazakhstan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Alibek Bakayev held a meeting with members of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Japan, including Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Arfiya Eri and Chairperson of the International Bureau of the Liberal Democratic Party Taro Kono.
