Kazakhstan and Australia mark 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations
Australia and Kazakhstan are large countries with strong energy and resource sectors. In Kazakhstan, Australian companies have established a good reputation as suppliers of mining equipment, technology transfer and provision of services, so we can expect trade and investment links to grow further in years to come. As Australian Foreign Minister Bob Carr noted welcoming the anniversary, "we are working in close cooperation with Kazakhstan on the future of Afghanistan and nuclear non-proliferation." According to the Minister, "Kazakhstan and Australia enjoy warm and growing relationship."
This year has been significant for bilateral relations, the first Australian parliamentary delegation visited Kazakhstan in April 2012, there were held MFA political consultations.
Earlier, Foreign Ministers of Kazakhstan and Australia Yerzhan Kazykhanov and Bob Carr exchanged congratulatory letters on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the countries.
