Kazakhstan and Armenia ready to boost cultural relations

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - In Yerevan representatives of Kazakhstan and Armenia have signed an intergovernmental program of cultural cooperation for 2015-2017, the press service of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported.

The ceremony took place in the framework of A. Muhamediuly, Minister of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, working visit to Armenia in October 7-10. In addition, the heads of cultural agencies of the two countries discussed a wide range of issues in the field of culture and art, history, museum and library science. Recall that cultural relations of Kazakhstan and Armenia have been fixed at the initiative of the Presidents of the two states via the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Republic of Armenia on Cooperation in the field of culture which was signed in Astana in November 2006. Armenian Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan stressed the particular importance of the contribution of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev to the enhancement of cultural partnership between the two countries. She also expressed willingness to fully cooperate with the Kazakh participants of the event within the program signed. In addition, the sides discussed the issues of collaboration in the field of cinema, jointing the national film organizations, distribution and public display of movies. Hasmik Poghosyan expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the meeting with her Kazakh counterpart. She noted that since the beginning of her work as the Minister of Culture (since 2006) A. Muhamediuly has become the first Kazakhstan's Culture Minister who paid a working visit to Armenia. She also stressed that following the meeting the Armenian side is expecting serious progress in the development of bilateral relations in culture.
