Kazakhstan among Caspian key partners of Astrakhan region of Russia

This has been announced at the meeting in the regional government, which debated the prospects of international cooperation with the Caspian Sea states, the press center of administration of the Russian region reports.

"Orders received from Kazakhstan are playing a great role for the shipbuilders of Astrakhan region. There is closely related work of a number of major transport companies in the region with Kazakhstan. Astrakhan universities have a lot of Kazakh students who travel from Kazakhstan for getting high quality medical care, " said Denis Afanasyev, the regional industry minister at the arrangement.

Note that in general by the results of 2012 the region has doubled the amount of Caspian trade, which in 2012 accounted for 44 percent of the total foreign trade turnover of the Astrakhan region.

In the coming years the Astrakhan region will continue promising partnership with the Caspian states. Thus, the decision has been taken to open this year the Consulate of Turkmenistan in Astrakhan. The regional authorities are in talks concerning the opening of the consulate of Azerbaijan in Astrakhan.
