"Kazakhstan alloy» — outcome of 30 years' work
It has been already patented in Ukraine, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, in Europe, applications have been proceeded in 66 countries of the world, including the U.S., Japan, Germany and China.
"This is the result of 30 years of work by scientists of Karaganda Metallurgical Institute being the part of the Republican State Enterprise - "National Center on Complex Processing of Mineral Resources of Kazakhstan", said Abdurasul Zharmenov, the director of the center.
"Our foreign colleagues call the material "revolutionary". When new material apperas in the market, its annual need usually amounts to to 50-100 thousand tons per year. But as for aluminum ferrosilicon its world demand immediately reached million tons. In patent this alloy is named "Kazakhstani". When in 1996 I reported to the Kazakh President that we were working out a new material necessary to remove oxygen from steel, Nursultan Nazarbayev analyzed the work and suggested adding dopants to improve the quality of the metal. Thus, the President was one of the five authors of the "Kazakhstani alloy", said Abdurasul Zharmenov.
