Kazakh, Turkish Leaders visited Yassawi Kazakh-Turkish International University

TURKESTAN. May 24. KAZINFORMA /Tatyana Pylayeva/ Head of the State Nursultan Nazarbayev and President of Turkey Abdullah Gül met with the students and faculty of the K. A. Yassawi University in Turkestan today.

In a large hall of the University's Culture Center Mr. Gül was awarded the title of honorary professor of the Yassawi University. Having thanked the rector of the institution and Leader of Kazakhstan A. Gül, in turn, handed out a Scepter - the ancient symbol of power - to N. Nazarbayev. "You are a Great Aksakal. Let this Scepter of power symbolize the President of your sovereign state as it was in ancient Turks' life", A. Gül said.

The Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University was established together by Kazakhstan and Turkey and today it is the first international higher educational institution possessing the international status among the Turkic-speaking countries. The University educates highly-qualified specialists meeting all modern standards. "Successful activity of the University in Turkestan which is the homeland of all Turkic-speaking nations sets the best pattern of friendly and partnership relations between our countries. You must exert every effort to make the University the best one in the world", N. Nazarbayev said addressing the participants of the meeting. "From our side, we promise to provide all-round assistance to the University in education and science", A. Gül added.
