Kazakh tennis players slip in WTA rankings

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Kazakhstan's tennis player Zarina Diyas has lost two spots in the updated WTA rankings ahead of the start of the 2014 US Open in New York, Kazinform has learnt from Vesti.kz.

The 20-year-old Diyas, the first ever Kazakh-born tennis player to enter the WTA's top 50, slid to №48 this week. Kazakhstan-based Yaroslava Shvedova and Galina Voskoboeva also moved down in the rankings as well to №51 and №119 respectively. As reported earlier, Zarina Diyas will face Lesia Tsurenko of Ukraine in the first-round match of the 2014 US Open. As for Yaroslava Shvedova, she is set to play Monica Niculescu from Romania in their respective first-round clash.
