Kazakh teams' rating in international Olympiads improves - Minister of Education

ASTANA. July 27. KAZINFORM /Damir Baimanov/ Kazakhstan teams participating in international Olympiads and contests improve their indices year by year. Minister of Education and Science Zhansseit Tuimebayev has made it public at a press conference devoted to organization of the 51st International Mathematical Olympiad in Kazakhstan in 2010.
"Over the independence years Kazakhstan has hosted 18 international Olympiads. In this regard our country shows excellent results", the Minister noted.
According to him, in 2005 Kazakh teams won 151 medals, in 2006- 168, in 2007 - 181 and in 2008 - 335. 104 of them are gold, 111 - silver and 120 - bronze medals.
"In the first half of 2009 our school students won 294 medals including 73 - gold, 113 - silver and 108 - bronze ones. We will continue this work. Our teams' success in international Olympiads and scientific contests is a result of purposeful work of the teaching staffs of the schools, educational departments and the country's authorities", Z. Tuimebayev said.
