Kazakh students get ready for Rio+20

They are expected to present their project at the global forum this summer.

The participants of the joint program on sustainable development of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and MDP/Global Classroom of Columbia University have drafted proposals, including recommendations on the use of water resources, waste processing and bikes. The students plan to implement their initiative with the help of government bodies and international organizations. Akim (mayor) of Almaty city AkhmetzhanYessimov has already familiarized with these proposals.

"Young Kazakhstanis display interest towards ecological problems because future belongs to green economy. Their out of box thinking, fresh eye and practical ideas are the movers of effective sustainable development of the country," one of the students going to Rio+20 Rafis Abazov said.
