Kazakh Statistics Agency ex-chairperson' s criminal case sent to court

ASTANA. November 25. KAZINFORM The criminal case against the former chairperson of Kazakhstan's Statistics Agency Anar Meshimbayeva has been submitted to the court, the press service of Astana prosecutor's office informs.

"November 15, 2013 A.Meshimbaeva was brought to trial. Currently the criminal proceedings are pending in the district court 2, Esil District of Astana", says the press service of the office.

NOTE: In October this year, the Agency for Combating Economic Crimes and Corruption of Kazakhstan (Financial police) terminated criminal action against the former chairperson of Kazakhstan's Statistics Agency Anar Meshimbayeva, who had been wanted since 2009, and after her arrest in September she was extradited by the Russian Federation.

A.Meshimbaeva is accused of misappropriating entrusted funds in the amount of KZT758.2 million (tenge) allocated for public procurement of services for production of tools for the National Population Census 2009, which was committed by group of persons by prior conspiracy and abuse of power in public procurement of air conditioners for server hardware, and that criminal activity caused damage to the state amounting to KZT3.5 million.
