Kazakh skater Kostin set world record at Speed Skating World Championship among veterans

ASTANA. January 27. KAZINFORM /Gulnara Zhandagulova/ Kazakh skater Vladimir Kostin set a world record at the Speed Skating World Championship among veterans. He won 'gold' and set a new world record at the 1000 meters distance.
The Championship was held in Berlin on January 22-23. The Kazakh team participated in this event for the first time. 325 sportsmen from 16 countries gathered there to take part in the prestigious event. All of them are well-know sportsmen, World Champions, Olympic Champions and winners of international competitions. Four sportsmen from Kazakhstan represented our country. They are Vladimir Kostin, Alexander Gavrilov, Vitaly Kapolnyuk and Azamat Smailov.
V. Kostin participated in the 35-40 years old age category. He became a World Champion and set a new record at 1000 meters which is now 1:14:09 breaking the previous record that had been set two years ago.
