Kazakh senators welcome the initiative on snap presidential elections

"The Senate has fully supported the initiative put forward by the council of the People's Assembly of Kazakhstan on February 14 to hold snap presidential elections. The initiative dictated by the present time has been welcomed by the people and generated positive response in the society," Senate Speaker Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev said, reading the address to the plenary session of the chamber on Thursday. It was noted that amid growing international tensions and crisis in global economy it is necessary to ensure internal stability and create favorable conditions for successful implementation of the Kazakhstan-2050 Development Strategy, the Mangilik Yel concept, the Nurly zhol program in order to join the world's 30 most developed countries. "Holding of snap presidential elections will promote peace, unity and accord in the country," the senators said in their address to President Nazarbayev.
