Kazakh Senate Speaker attends inauguration ceremony of new Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian

In line with the President’s instruction, Chairman of the Senate of the Kazakh Parliament Maulen Ashimbayev participated in the ceremony of inauguration of new Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Tehran on Tuesday, Kazinform News Agency reports citing the Senate’s press service.

Maulen Ashimbayev also met Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly and Director of the Organization for Islamic Culture and Relations. The sides exchanged views on the prospects for strengthening the Kazakh-Iranian relations in the topical issues of interparliamentary cooperation.

On behalf of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Maulen Ashimbayev congratulated the President-elect of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, on his election win and said that Kazakhstan gave special attention to further development of the two countries’ relations.

“The Head of State attaches particular attention to the development of the bilateral political and economic cooperation between our countries. Iran is our close neighbor in the Caspian region and one of the most important trade partners in the Near and Middle East. Therefore, strengthening the relations with Iran remains one of priority areas of our foreign policy. On the part of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, we will actively promote all-round enhancement of the relations between our countries,” said Maulen Ashimbayev.

Maulen Ashimbayev thanked the Iranian side for active participation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization's Summit which ended with the adoption of 25 important documents including the Astana Declaration.

The meeting also discussed the issues of interparliamentary cooperation.

At a meeting with Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Kazakh Senate Speaker pointed out the key areas of interaction of the parliaments in law-making activity.

“The Parliament of Kazakhstan is keen on strengthening the ties with the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran,” he said emphasizing the importance of addressing topical issues and exchanging law-making experience.

The meeting with Director of the Organization for Islamic Culture and Relations Organization Mehdi Imanipur, centered on the issues of strengthening the cultural and spiritual ties between the two nations.

Special attention was given to the role of spiritual diplomacy in overcoming the global challenges and uniting joint efforts on this way.

“The Secretariat of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions will hold its XXII session in October, which is expected to discuss the issues of further implementation of the Congress Development Concept, and approve the topics and dates of upcoming VIII Congress. The Forum of Young Religious Leaders will be held as well. We hope for active participation of Iran in these events,” said Ashimbayev and thanked Mehdi Imanipur and his colleagues for the support of the initiatives of the Congress of World and Traditional Religions’ Leaders, active involvement in preparation of the Congress’ final documents and the contribution to the popularization of the ideas and values of interregional accord.
