Kazakh Senate ratifies Workers with Family Responsibilities Convention

ASTANA. October 18. KAZINFORM A law "On ratification of Convention concerning Equal Opportunities and Equal Treatment for Men and Women Workers: Workers with Family Responsibilities (Convention -156) (Geneva,  23 June 1981)" has been ratified by the Kazakh Senate at the plenary meeting.

Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Kazakhstan Serik Abdenov presenting the draft law informed that 41 member states of the International Labor Organization and such CIS countries as Ukraine and Azerbaijan have joined to this Convention.

The aim of the Convention is insure equal treatment and equal opportunities for working men and women with family responsibilities.

Convention's norms cover working men and women with family responsibilities to relatives, family members, as well as children who are dependent on them, where such responsibilities restrict their possibilities of preparing, access, participation and progress in the economy.

This Convention forbids a discrimination of these people. It also regulates the obligations of the state to support them by providing a sufficient number of kindergartens and other institutions for the care of children and helping families.
