Kazakh Secretary of State received UNICEF Representative in Kazakhstan

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Gulshara Abdykalikova, the Secretary of State of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Chairperson of the National Commission for Women's Affairs under the President has met with new Representative of the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Kazakhstan Yuri Oksamitniy today, Kazinform has learnt from the Akorda press service.

At the meeting the sides discussed the relevant issues of children's protection and prospects of further cooperation in the sphere of education, healthcare and social development. The Kazakh Secretary of State congratulated Mr. Oksamitniy on his appointment and expressed confidence that fruitful cooperation between Kazakhstan and UNICEF will further continue. Ms Abdykalikova praised UNICEF's role in improving lives of children around the world and in Kazakhstan and work done by Kazakhstani government bodies to implement the United Nations Development Action Framework (UNDAF). The Government of Kazakhstan makes necessary steps to comply with the recommendations of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child on the development of national juvenile justice system, prevention of child labor exploitation, introduction of alternative forms of parenting orphans and so on.
