Kazakh Secretary of State held meetings with foreign diplomats

The interlocutors discussed promising areas of bilateral cooperation, current state of joint contractual basis, issues of mutual travels of citizens and interaction within the international organizations and unions, exchanged views on the situation in Central Asian region, including the Afghan problems.

Concerning the coming Kazakhstan's OSCE chairmanship which coincides with Switzerland's chairmanship in the Council of Europe, the Swiss Foreign Minister noted that Astana and Bern have great opportunities for joint addressing topical problems of the agenda of the Organizations. Firstly it refers to the issues of ecology, security, humanitarian cooperation.

Later in the day K.Saudabayev received U.S. Deputy Secretary of Energy Daniel Poneman visiting Kazakhstan as well, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry reports.

The sides discussed the issues of [preparation of the participation of President N.Nazarbayev in the Global Summit on Nuclear Security in spring next year in Washington.

K.Saudabayev briefed the American Diplomat on the initiative of the Kazakh President on announcing August 29 the World Day of Nuclear Weapons Renunciation.
