Kazakh, Russian PMs discuss trade-economic coop in Moscow

Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov is on his working visit to Russia upon invitation of Chairman of the Russian Government Mikhail Mishustin, Kazinform News Agency cites the official website of the Kazakh government.

The talks between the heads of the Kazakh and Russia governments focused on the issues of the current trade and economic cooperation as well as the realization of the agreements reached between Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

During the talks, the sides identified the joint efforts in the fields of trade and investment, industrial cooperation, energy, agriculture, civil aviation as well as transit and transport cooperation. In addition, interaction in culture and education was also discussed.

Kazakh Prime minister Bektenov noted the positive dynamics of the development of industrial and trade cooperation. Currently, both countries’ business entities are realizing 135 projects worth 26.5 billion US dollars. An additional 67 joint projects to the tune of 14 billion US dollars in sectors such as mechanical engineering, metallurgy and chemical industry are being developed. Owing to the joint efforts, over 11 thousand jobs are expected to be created.

Relations between our countries are developed effectively in the entire range of trade and economic and cultural cooperation. Industrial cooperation is a key cooperation area, which has already become the hallmark of successful bilateral cooperation. The governments of our countries are to make every effort to achieve the agreements reached by the leaders of our countries, said Bektenov.

The Kazakh head of government stressed the need to step up and synchronize the works to modernize the checkpoints at the Kazakh-Russian state border. As part of the phased work, it is planned to reconstruct 29 checkpoints out of 30 selected according to their workload by the end of 2027. The measures are expected to promote transit and increase the capacity along the border.

Special attention was attached to expanding the capacity of the North-South international corridor, developing the transport artery with the intensive use of the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railroad section.

The Kazakhstani side also voiced the promising areas for activating cooperation in the field of agro-industrial cooperation with the focus on deep processing of agricultural products.

For his part, Russian Prime minister Mikhail Mishustin outlined the readiness to actively cooperation in the realization of all decisions and agreements reached at the level of the Heads of State.

We attach priority attention to strengthening relation with Kazakhstan based on mutual respect, trust and strategic partnership. The countries realize large-scale projects in the industry, energy medicine, transport infrastructure, digital technologies. I’m certain that Russia and Kazakhstan have huge potential for interaction in transport and logistics. Key transit routes in Eurasian cross the territories of our countries, said Mishustin.

The sides noted the importance to further strengthen cross-regional cooperation as well as interaction in education.

Following the talks, the heads of government confirmed their intention to maintain the high pace in joint work in the entire range of interstate relations.
