Kazakh, Russian First Vice PMs discuss coop in agriculture

URALSK. March 1. KAZINFORM /Kanat Kulshmanov/ The second joint session of the boards of the Kazakh and Russian agriculture ministries is underway in Uralsk at present. The sitting is chaired by First Vice Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Umirzak Shukeyev and First Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government Igor Shuvalov.

Both countries' agriculture ministers - Akhylbek Kurishbayev and Elena Skrynnik, Governor of the West Kazakhstan oblast Baktykozha Izmukhambetov and Governor of Orenburg region Yuri Berg are also attending the session.

The participants are expected to discuss the state and prospects of cooperation in agriculture, interaction in veterinary and phytosanitary control and technical regulation in agro-industrial complex.

The parties will also discuss forecast supply and demand balances on major types of agricultural products and food of Kazakhstan and Russia for 2011.

The Kazakh side will present a bill "On development of export potential of beef" which will let increase the export of high-quality Kazakhstani beef to Russia and find new sale markets.

A memorandum of mutual understanding and cooperation between AstanaAgroProduct LLP and Russia's Metro Cash & Carry is planned to be signed within the session.
