Kazakh Prime Minister holds session of Board of "New University of Astana" JSC

The strategic issues, procedural and internal matters were discussed. In particular Prime Minister Massimov was elected as a chairman of the Board of Directors. Head of the Kazakh Premier's Chancellery Gabidolla Abdrakhimov was elected as a corporate secretary.

The main strategic directions of development of the new university for 2010-2012 were presented for the Board's approval. They represent step-by-step development of the new university into a National Scientific Educational Complex named after Nursultan Nazarbayev which will consist of a university, scientific-educational, research and medical centers.

The document also includes the issues on academic and scientific policy of the University, basic approaches to international partnership with the leading universities-partners and scientific centers.

An idea of an endowment fund as an important mechanism of ensuring stable financing of academic and research activities of the Nazarbayev University was reflected in the document as well.

The document was approved with account of the comments and suggestions of the Board of Directors.

The Prime Minister gave a number of instructions concerning the activity of the New University of Astana to the Board of Directors who heads the state bodies.
