Kazakh President urges to develop industries not associated with oil production
The President noted that the project on building a logistics center in Aktau, implemented with the participation of the Azerbaijani capital, will pave the way for qualitative and cheap fruits and vegetables for Kazakhstani consumers. Nursultan Nazarbayev addressed the issue of further development of the special economic zone in Aktau. "One of the first free economic zones has been launched and is functioning here in Mangystau region. The zone was launched back in 2002. However, local authorities started development of its infrastructure only in 2009. Only 5 out of 31 projects registered in the special economic zone are actually working", said the Head of State. Kazakhstan President drew attention to the importance of expanding mining industry specialization in the area. In addition, Mr. Nazarbayev has criticized low level of development of agro-industrial complex of Mangystau region. According to the President, Mangystau region consumes 20 thousand tons of meat per year. But it produces only 5.5 thousand tons a year. The Head of State stressed it is crucial to solve all the problems of the Mangystau agro-industrial complex gradually. In conclusion, Nursultan Nazarbayev, again drew attention to the importance of attracting foreign investment. Minister for Investment and Development A.Issekeshev informed about the implementation of the industrial and innovation program in the area. In the framework of his working visit to Mangystau region, President Nursultan Nazarbayev has launched the construction of a new railway "Borzhakty - Ersai" with the length of 13.8 km.
