Kazakh President takes part in CSTO heads of state meeting
Afterwards the sitting will continue in the enlarged format. A number of joint documents is planned to be signed.
The CSTO heads of state meet for the third time this year. Informal meetings were held in May (Moscow) and in August (Yerevan). The last official session of the CSTO Collective Security Council was held in June 2009.
More than 30 issues are on the agenda of the current session. The main topics are the improvement of the CSTO crisis response mechanism, increase of the organization's potential for effective countering modern challenges and security threats.
The heads of state are expected to adopt a declaration and a statement on peacekeeping forces of the CSTO. During the session Belarus will take over the chairmanship of the CSTO Collective Security Council from Russia.
