Kazakh President sends letter to his US counterpart

Kazykhanov handed over a letter from Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev to Barack Obama, expressing agreement with the American leader's appreciation of the achievements of the Kazakh-American cooperation in the past 20 years in the field of non-proliferation and disarmament, and also noting the importance of strengthening large-scale partnership, including areas such as stabilization and rehabilitation of Afghanistan, implementation of joint regional projects.
During the meeting the sides agreed to transform the mechanism of bilateral political consultations into Kazakh-U.S. Commission on Strategic Partnership, which is most suitable for the content of cooperation between the two countries. The sides reaffirmed the commitment to strengthening strategic dialogue on Afghanistan, democracy, cooperation on security and nuclear non-proliferation, energy and trade.
Joint efforts to ensure global and regional security, including in the context of the upcoming March meeting of the Presidents Nursultan Nazarbayev and Barack Obama at the Second Nuclear Security Summit in Seoul, were discussed during the negotiations.
