Kazakh President receives head of Natural Monopolies Regulation Agency

The latter reported to the President on the results of the agency's work in 2013 and prospects for 2014. In a meeting the sides focused on the key measures for refining the country's pricing policy, issues concerning ensuring the tariff setting transparency, upgrading the quality of regulated services and strengthening control over natural monopoly entities. The President drew attention to the need to increase control over the targeted use of resources obtained by the monopolists as a result of tariff escalation. Besides, Nursultan Nazarbayev stressed the need to create favorable conditions for the development of small and medium-sized business, and more extensive use of public-private partnership mechanism for attracting investments. Following the results of the meeting the President gave certain instructions.
