N.Nazarbayev noted that despite the fact that the political-economic cooperation between the Turkic-peaking countries is at the high level and there exist joint projects in different sectors, there is no general body for coordination and control over the relations.
According to the Kazakh Head of the State, it is necessary to modernize cooperation on the political level, raising it to a new level meeting demands of the modern time in order to achieve unity of the Turkic-speaking states.
N.Nazarbayev noted that Kazakhstan proposed a range of initiatives on establishment of common Turkic structures at the 8 Summit of the Turkic-speaking states in Antalya in 2006. "One of such initiatives is the Parliamentary Assembly of the Turkic-speaking countries. It was realized through signing of a corresponding agreement by the Heads of the Governments of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey in 2008", he said.
