Kazakh President congratulates Writers Union on 80th anniversary

ALMATY. KAZINFORM - The Kazakhstan Writers Union celebrates its 80th anniversary these days. President of the country Nursultan Nazarbayev congratulated the union on this milestone in a congratulatory message.

"I wholeheartedly congratulate the Kazakhstan Writers Union on its 80th anniversary!" the message reads. "This is a landmark event in the cultural life of our country and another bright page in the history of national literature. The Writers Union is one of the first creative unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan that has united more than 700 prominent Kazakhstani writers and poets. The modern generation of writers are worthy successors to the priceless heritage of Abay Kunanbayev, Zhambyl Zhabayev, Shakarim Kudaiberdiyev, Mukhtar Auezov, Saken Seifullin, Ilyas Zhansugurov, Gabit Musrepov and many others," the congratulatory letter says.
