Kazakh President congratulates ex- Chancellor Gerhard Schröder with 70th birthday

During the meeting the Kazakh diplomat handed the German politician congratulatory message from the Kazakh President on the occasion of Schröder's 70th anniversary. Ambassador stressed Schröder's significant contribution to the expansion and deepening of the Kazakh-German cooperation which laid a solid foundation for comprehensive and mutually beneficial relations between the two countries. German politician with a deep sense of gratitude received the congratulations of the President and, in turn, wished Kazakhstan and its leader success and prosperity. Moreover he fondly recalled his visit to Kazakhstan and friendly conversation with President Nursultan Nazarbayev. Former German Chancellor underlined his commitment to further strengthen the political dialogue and the expansion of large-scale trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Germany. Prominent politician Gerhard Schröder was Chancellor of Germany from 1998 to 2005. As a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), he led a coalition government of the SPD and the Greens. Before becoming a full-time politician, he was a lawyer, and before becoming Chancellor he served as Prime Minister of Lower Saxony. In 2003 he visited Kazakhstan on an official visit as the first German chancellor. The event resulted in the launch of "Nazarbayev - Schröder" program on management training in economics.
