Kazakh PM visited Shopan-Ata Necropolis in Mangystau region

MANGYSTAU REGION. July 20. KAZINFORM /Kanat Kulshmanov/ Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Massimov visited Shopan-Ata Necropolis, historical and architectural memorial within his working trip to Mangystau region.

Underground mosque Shopan-Ata was built in 16 century and located at the territory of big cemetery Shopan-Ata. According to the legend, Shopan-Ata was one of the novices of Ahmed Yassaui.
The Shopan Ata Necropolis is on old Mangyshlak-Horesm caravan road in the southeastern part of the peninsula and may be the biggest and most ancient one in Mangyshlak. It extends towards the both sides of a shallow and narrow gully descending the Holy Shopan Ata Hill.
