Kazakh PM held meetings with reps of Islamic financial institutes

ASTANA. March 15. KAZINFORM Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Massimov has held a range of meetings with representatives of the Islamic financial institutes today within the Kazakh Conference on Islamic Financing 2010. The Premier met with Chairman of the board of directors of the Islamic Bank of Asia, Advisor to the Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain Abdulla Hasan Saif and Secretary-General of the Karim Islamic Financial Services Board Rifaat Ahmed Abdel, Kazinform refers to the press service of the Head of the Government.
Issues of development of the Islamic banking in Kazakhstan were discussed at the meeting.
The Kazakh Prime Minister informed the interlocutors on the process of institutionalization of Kazakhstan as a regional center for Islamic financing in the CIS by 2020.
K.Massimov said that Kazakhstan is interested in acceleration of the process of development of the Islamic banking and confirmed readiness of the Kazakh Government to create necessary conditions for functioning of banks on the principles of Islamic financing in the country.
