Kazakh Parliament adopts amendments on pensions and benefits increase

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - The Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the plenary session has considered in two readings and adopted the amendments to legislative acts on social security.

"The bill provides for an increase of pension payments in the current year by 12%, basic and retirement pension - by 14 %", said the Minister of Labour and Social Security Tamara Duissenova presenting the bill. The Minister also announced that from April 1, 2014 the size of income for the calculation of pensions will be increased from 39 to 41 monthly calculation index (MCI). The size of basic pension will be increased by 12% to KZT 10,950, and retirement pensions by 14% to KZT 46 661. The amendments also provide for the introduction of one-time payments in connection with the adoption of child in the amount of 75 MCI and increase of disability benefits, survivorship, and benefits for victims of nuclear tests by 12% from 1 April 2014 and 25% from July 1, 2015. 1 monthly calculation index (MCI) in Kazakhstan since January 2014 equals to KZT 1852.
