Kazakh orchestra performs in Turkey

The orchestra, which has introduced Kazakh music culture at national and international festivals, gives concerts in Turkish provinces from Oct 14 through Oct. 20.

The concert series holds special importance this year because it is the 150th anniversary of Dina Nurpeyisova's birth.

The 70-person orchestra's repertoire is made up of works of Kazakh folk composers and current Kazakh composers. The orchestra also performs world classics in its concerts.

According to Hurriyet Daily, the orchestra, formed in Atyrau, Kazakhstan, in 1990 is known as one of four famous orchestras in the Kazakhstan Republic.

The series kicks off at Mersin's State Opera and Ballet Stage today. It will take the stage in Hatay's DSİ Park, Yaylatepe and Samandağı between tomorrow and Saturday.

After two concerts in Gaziantep's Atatürk Culture Center and Şehitkamil Municipality Culture Center on Oct. 17, the orchestra will go to the Ankara Painting and Sculpture Museum on Oct. 18 ending in Istanbul on Oct. 20.
