Kazakh Ombudsman met with EP delegation

ASTANA. February 22. KAZINFORM Kazakh Ombudsman Askar Shakirov met with a delegation of the European Parliament, headed by member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Nicole Kiil-Nielsen, in Astana on Tuesday, the press service of the Ombudsman reported.
The delegation arrived in Kazakhstan to get familiarized with the process of realization of the Strategy for a new partnership between the European Union and Central Asia for 2007-2013. One of the prior directions of the Strategy is cooperation in the human rights sphere.
A.Shakirov briefed the guests on the activity of the Government in the human rights field, including the issues of modernization of the legislative basis and law enforcement practice, interaction with non-governmental and international organizations, legal education of the population.
The sides emphasized the positive dynamics of the Kazakh-European partnership development in different spheres, including the humanitarian dimension.
