ASTANA. January 25. KAZINFORM /Serik Sabekov/ "Kazakh Ministry of Environmental Protection suggests increasing the amount of taxes on effluents, pollution and other hazardous wastes," Minister Nurgali Ashimov has said it today. As he noted, according to the current legislation, if a large plant produces 20 million tons of waste, but the owner of the enterprise received a permit for one million tons of waste per year, he pays only for that million.
"Now we go the other way. Under the proposed amendments to the legislation the owner of waste will have to pay for the entire amount of waste", Minister Ashimov said.
"Thus for the owner it will be profitable to recycle or sell waste, all the more so today when there are many interesting programs in this field", he added.
