Kazakh Minister had talks with Georgian and Iranian ambassadors

ASTANA. KAZINFORM Minister of Transport and Communications Zhenis Kassymbek met with Ambassador of Iran to Kazakhstan Gorban Seifi to focus on dynamic development of bilateral relations and further framework for bilateral cooperation, the ministry's press service said.

The parties agreed to widen bilateral ties and underlined the importance of launching the Uzen (Kazakhstan)-Kyzylkaya-Bereket-Etrek (Turkmenistan)-Gorgan (Iran) railway line. Construction of Kazakhstan's section has already been completed. At the meeting with Georgian Ambassador to Kazakhstan Zurab Pataradze the parties noted that Kazakhstan may diversify its cargo deliveries exploiting the opportunities of the new Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway called in the future to link the networks of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey. Besides, the ambassador stressed the significance of the agreement on coordination committee for the development of the trans-Caspian international transport route signed by Kazakhstan, Georgia and Azerbaijan within the II international transport and logistics business forum The New Silk Road held last November. It is purposed to attract through transit, pursue coordinated tariff-setting policy, boost infrastructure and set up joint integrated logistics products.

In his turn, the Kazakh minister said that increase in through traffic is one of the key goals of the state transport system integration and development program 2020 adopted last year. He also accentuated the importance of relations with Georgia and promised that the ministry will make every effort to furthering bilateral cooperation.
