In the city of Sveyhan (emirate of Abu Dhabi), the Minister has visited the National Center of Study of Birds (NCSB) specializing in the breeding of Asian bustards (chlamidotis macqueenii) or the Houbara Bustard.

During the talks with the representatives of the International Fund for Houbara (IFH) Mr. Kapparov discussed the prospects of expanding cooperation in the environmental field including scientific relations.

In order to maintain the population of wild populations as well as for preservation of cultural heritage for future generations, more than thirty years ago the Abu Dhabi government initiated the program for the protection of the Houbara Bustard. The program is managed by the International Fund for Houbara which was established for coordination of scientific and research work on breeding and release of the Houbara Bustard in different countries of its natural habitat. The Foundation manages three nurseries (one in Morocco and two in the UAE).

Kazakhstan is home for the largest number of migrating wild Houbara Bustards. As a result of many years of scientific cooperation a specialized nursery is being constructed in the Shayan village of South Kazakhstan region.
